Medicare questions, answered straight
No jargon, no fine-print games. Here are the questions people ask us most, and if yours isn't here, just call.
How much does it cost to work with you?
Nothing, our help is 100% free to you. Licensed agents are paid by the insurance companies, so you pay the exact same plan premium whether you enroll with us or on your own. With us, you simply get an expert in your corner.
Are you part of the government or Medicare?
No. Medicare Answers Now is a private, independent insurance agency. We are not connected with or endorsed by the U.S. government, Social Security, or the federal Medicare program. For official information you can always visit Medicare.gov or call 1-800-MEDICARE.
When can I enroll in or change my plan?
Your Initial Enrollment Period is the 7 months around your 65th birthday. The Annual Enrollment Period runs October 15 to December 7 each year, when anyone can join, switch or drop an Advantage or Part D plan. A Special Enrollment Period may open if you move, lose coverage, or qualify for Extra Help. See our Medicare 101 guide for the full breakdown.
What's the difference between Advantage and a Supplement?
A Medicare Advantage plan bundles everything into one plan, often $0 premium, using a network of doctors, and frequently adds dental, vision and hearing. A Medicare Supplement (Medigap) plan pays the gaps Original Medicare leaves and lets you see any doctor nationwide that accepts Medicare. Neither is "better", it depends on you, and we compare both side by side.
Will I have to change my doctor or pharmacy?
Not if we can help it. Before you ever enroll, we confirm that your current doctors and pharmacies are in-network for any plan we recommend. No surprises after you sign up.
Do you only sell plans from one company?
No. We represent many of the nation's top carriers, which means we can compare options across companies and recommend what's genuinely best for you, not just whatever one company offers.
Can you help lower my prescription costs?
Yes. We price your exact medication list across available Part D plans to find the lowest total annual cost, and we check whether you qualify for the federal Extra Help program, which can significantly reduce drug costs.
I already have a plan, is a review worth it?
Almost always. Plan benefits, drug formularies and prices change every year, yet most people never re-shop. A quick annual review frequently uncovers a better-fitting or lower-cost plan, and it costs you nothing.
